I'd like to make an announcement that some of you might find of interest, especially those of you who are politically inclined. Many of you know that I've always loved to talk about the new, politics, current events, etc. I've had a blog for quite sometime, but I've simply not had the time to post to it on a regular basis and have always thought that a blog post was too limited with respect to having a true dialog about important issues.

I've been encouraged for years to write a book and have even been told by quite a few people that I should be on the radio. The book is on my list of things to do and I will do it someday before I cash in my chips, but the idea of having a radio show was comical, as it's just simply never going to happen.

Well sort of........I recently discovered BlogTalkRadio and after looking into it, decided to create a LIVE radio show over the web, complete with callers, using their service. I just finished an initial "intro" broadcast of my show. The name of the show is "Red State Town Hall".

I'd like to invite all of you to check it out when you have the time. The first broadcast (only 15 minutes) can be played over the web or downloaded and you can play it at your leisure later.

I was a bit nervous and wasn't sure I was even using the software correctly, but I think I did ok, for a first attempt. The biggest mistake that I made was to announce the date and time of the first real show without actually scheduling it first.

If you listen to my broadcast, I mention that the first show will be on Saturday, January 10th at 10:00pm EST. Being a rookie, I didn't realize that BlogTalkRadio doesn't allow the "small fry" to broadcast during "primetime" when all the much larger network shows are being broadcast.

Therefore, I had to schedule my first real broadcast for Saturday, January 10th at 11:00pm. That's 11pm, not 10pm as the intro broadcast states. If you go to my show page, it correctly shows the correct time. It even has a "reminder" button so that you'll receive an email reminder prior to the broadcast.

Saturday night's topic will be PEBO (President Elect Barrack Obama) and his 1 Trillion-Dollar Pork Fest. Feel free to call in and share your thoughts, vent your frustrations over the current economic mess or simply call in to say "Hello".

I look forward to talking to some of you Saturday night. As I stated in the intro broadcast, I plan on broadcasting at least once per week and will begin with a 30-minute broadcast, each Saturday night. If there is enough interest, I may extend the broadcast to 1 hour.

Also, if this goes over pretty well, I'm considering taking on a co-host, so if any of you are interested, let me know.

Wanted: A TRUE Conservative Candidate

When one surveys the political landscape in America, it soon becomes crystal clear that there is something missing. That something is a true rarity these days..........an honest to goodness conservative presidential candidate.

I'm not talking about the long list of "RINO's" out there who "claim" to be conservative. I'm talking about a conservative in the vein of Ronald Reagan. That my friend is a scarce commodity. As scarce as a liberal tax cut. I'm not sure if one even exists and like the idea of a liberal tax cut, it's been so long since I've seen one, I'm not so sure I'd recognize it at first.

There are a couple of names floating about that have not officially announced their intention of running for the 2008 nomination, but if they did, they just might be considered "true" conservatives. Newt Gingrich and Fred Thompson come to mind. Newt's a brilliant guy and I love listening to him when he speaks or debates an issue, but I'm he may simply have to many negatives to actually have a real shot at the nomination. Also, intellectual types are rarely able to "stir the masses" and generate real enthusiasm.

Fred Thompson on the other hand, just by mentioning that he is considering a run seems to have stirred up the base a bit. I don't know what it is about him, maybe it's his "star" quality, or maybe its simply a matter of charisma, but when the guy is talking, you tend to listen to him. He simply sounds credible and he sounds as if he actually believes what he's saying.

There have been several occasions when Fred didn't follow the pack and stood on principle for what he believed in and that's always a plus. There are far too many politicians who flop around issues like a small mouth bass that fell off the stringer onto the dock when getting out of the boat.

Toss in the fact that he used to date gorgeous country singer Lorrie Morgan, and the guy has got to have something going for him. I'm not sure if he's in the same league with Ronald Reagan. Few men are, trust me. But, he does offer at least some hope that there just might be at least one conservative, who actually has true conservative values at his core, willing to run for President in 2008.

If you spot a true conservative among the pack, be sure to let me know. Better yet, take a picture before the breed vanishes.

December 7th, 1941

President Franklin D. Roosevelt: Yesterday, December 7, 1941, a date which will live in infamy, the United States of American was suddenly and deliberately attacked by naval and air forces of the Empire of Japan.

It was with these words that FDR began his address to a joint session of congress on December 8th, 1941. It's appropriate that on this day, sixty-five years later, we take time to consider the historical significance of the chain of events that emminated from the attack on Pearl Harbor.

Many Americans at the time had no interest in being dragged into World War II and getting us involved "over there". Appeasement was the "policy" that many subscribed to. The Europeans of course did so and because of their weakness, the Nazi's made their move without much fear of anyone, other than the British who they knew would stand in their way.

I shudder to think what the world might be like if those Americans had "won the day" and convinced the rest of us that defeating Nazism wasn't worth the cost. Perhaps the only "good" that came out of that tragic day at Pearl Harbor was that it was an enormous "wake-up call" for all of America.

After the events of that day, there was no longer any question as to whether or not America would become involved in the War. It was simply a matter of exactly when and where would we make our first moves and how soon could we get the war machine up to speed to enable us to defeat those that wanted to see us dead.

Like many Americans today, I wasn't even born when Pearl Harbor was attacked, but it has always left a deep impression upon my psyche. I was of course alive when the next great "wake-up call" for America came on September 11th, 2001. I'll never forget that day, as it is seared into my consciousness and even today, more than five years later, I get angry when I think about that day.

The thing that makes me the angriest is the "appeasement" mentality of many Americans even today. A glaring example of this is the "bipartisan" recommendations released by the Iraq Surrender Group just one day before the 65th anniversary of Pearl Harbor.

I'll not go into a lot of details, but what strikes me about the 79 recommendations of this group is the utter "unremarkable" nature of the vast majority of them. Many of them are nothing more than a rehash of the policies we've had all along. In a few cases they are patently absurd.

The notion of asking the Syrians and Iranians to help us out in Iraq is naive at best (I'm trying to be "nice"). They're behind much of the violence and weapons there. It makes you wonder what Baker and the boys have been smoking.

There is only one way to win a war and it has nothing to do with diplomacy or dialogue. Victory comes about by defeating your enemies. Nothing more, nothing less. The young men of "our greatest generation" understood this. They not only understood it. They actually DID it and defeated our enemies, but not without much sacrifice.

Have we not learned anything in the intervening sixty-five years? Do Americans today NOT realize the price that must sometimes be paid to win? Sometimes, I wonder. I really wonder.

John Kerry: The Gift That Keeps On Giving!

You have to just love this guy. He's too good to be true. The Republican's were in desperate need for something to provide some last minute momentum to help motivate the base to come out in large numbers and here comes the gift horse himself, John Kerry.

The conventional wisdom within the MSM (Main Stream Media) during the run-up to the 2004 election was that George W. Bush was the dumb frat boy and that John Kerry was the intellectual. "It turns out that while both were at Yale, Bush got better grades than Kerry did. Their cumulative average was close: Bush had a 77, while Kerry had a 76. Bush's highest grades were 88s in anthropology, history, and philosophy. His only D was in Astronomy. Kerry's highest grade was a 79 in a political science class and a 77 in French. But he received D's in two history classes, geology, and political science."

Well, Kerry has proven yet again that he's not the sharpest knife in the drawer. His recent comments, exposing his TRUE feelings about our troops is just what the doctor ordered. It's exactly the medicine that the disenchanted Republican base needed to get them up off the couch and to the polls. At least I certainly hope so.

John Kerry's disdain for our troops should be no surprise to anyone. The fact is that not only is what he said an insult to the brave men and women who serve our country, it's also NOT true.

Yesterday, Republican Congressmen, Senators and those in the Talk Radio crowd (Rush & Hannity, etc.) were on this like "white on rice". Today, even some Democrats are calling for an apology from Kerry.

I just heard that he's posted a written "apology" of sorts on his website, but as far as I know he's not come right out and said "I'm sorry" yet. I hope that he doesn't. Why? Well, the longer he doesn't, the longer this will remain an issue and the more heat it will generate, which can only be good for the Republican Party and it's get out the vote push.

Ah yes........Good 'Ole John Kerry. Ya got to love the guy!

Methinks He Doth Protest Too Much!

There's no two ways about it.......the man simply "wigged out". This guy is so desperate to salvage his "legacy" that he darn near hyperventilated while being interviewed by Chris Wallace of Fox News.

BTW, it appears that Wallace is now a charter member of the Great Vast Right Wing Conspiracy. Congrats Mr. Wallace. I'm sure that you've made Daddy very proud!

Ya know.......the last time I remember seeing Mr. Clinton squirm this much was when he looked into the camera and pointed his finger at all of us a lied like an old, worn out rug from an Arkansas yard sale. It seems quite obvious that the man has a distinctive pattern in this regard. Take note.

If he weren't a former President of the United States, it would almost be comical, but sadly it isn't. If he were so right about what he was saying and the facts backed him up as he contended, then what was the purpose for the emotional implosion? I mean, if you're right and you've got the facts on your side, there is no need for hysteria, right?

Mr. Clinton can point his finger at us and lie to us if he wants, but the facts are clear and as plain as the nose on his face (no insult intended, I mean the man has a real honker on that mug).

The Clinton administration had numerous opportunities to take out Bin Laden and either failed to do so, or in most cases didn't even make the attempt. Of that, there can be no argument, no matter how many times Mr. Clinton loses it on national television.

If you think he's losing it now, wait until Hillary formally announces her candidacy for President and he's forced to defend her publicly. Don King should purchase the rights and make it a Pay-Per-View event on HBO. I for one would pay to see that. You bring the popcorn.

When will the French, Russians and the rest of Europe learn? Do they honestly believe that you can negotiate in good faith with the likes of the Islamic Fascists within the Iranian regime? Exactly how dumb do you have to be to swallow this idiotic logic?

What on Earth is there to "talk about"? What further "dialogue" is needed? Didn't we all agree on what the next step was to be in U.N. Resolution 1696? Don't these guys understand that the Iranians are playing them like a "cheap fiddle"?

There may be many things about the Arab world that Western culture doesn't understand, but one thing is very clear. They see appeasement and endless negotiation for what it is; WEAKNESS! The only thing that they understand and respect is STRENGTH.

Appeasement brought about the second World War. Some say that we're already embroiled in the third World War. This war is much different from previous wars, but the reasons for finding ourselves in this situation are as old as time itself. The reasons never change, just the players.

We've seen the likes of those in the Iranian leadership before. They're no different than the fascists of the last century, complete with their anti-Semitic rhetoric and they're prophecies of death and annihilation. Why can't those who paid the biggest price in the last World War not see the TRUE nature of our enemy? This enemy is an enemy to all peace loving, freedom loving nations of the Earth. They are not just OUR enemy.

There are three major reasons for the way the Europeans view the world. I think the first reason lies deep within their psychological makeup. Perhaps the scars of war run so deep on the European continent that they're willing to do almost anything to avoid another such war. What they fail to realize of course, is that appeasement in and of itself is the surest way to relive the horrors of war. Ronald Reagan had it right with his "Peace Through Strength" philosophy. The Europeans would do well to adopt this way of thinking, but I won't hold my breath waiting for that to happen.

The second reason is far less complex, but much more sinister. It's nothing more than politics. Because the Bush administration has taken a strong, aggressive stance in dealing with the enemy, they simply revert to a contrarian approach, to capitalize on the current anti-American sentiment throughout Europe. It's a good way to win elections in this day and time if you're a politician in Europe.

The third and last reason is the most "practical" of all. Many European nations have experienced a huge influx of Muslims into their countries over the past several decades. Many of whom have NOT assimilated into their culture and have therefore contributed to their own impoverishment. This has produced a vast breeding ground for resentment, which in turn has laid the foundation for Islamic fundamentalism. The Europeans are just beginning to recognize this and to put it bluntly, they are scared to death to do anything that might upset this radical demographic, thus feeding the appeasement cycle.

I know this will not happen, but I wish that the Bush Administration would get off the band wagon of appeasement NOW, not later. For I fear that if we wait too late to call Iran's bluff, it will be a mistake of enormous magnitude and with consequences to horrible to fathom.

For once, I hope that I'm wrong, but I don't think that I am. For I have learned my lessons from history, even if the Europeans have not.

(CNSNews.com) - The chief law enforcement officers of several Texas counties along the southern U.S. border warn that Arabic-speaking individuals are learning Spanish and integrating into Mexican culture before paying smugglers to sneak them into the United States. The Texas Sheriffs' Border Coalition believes those individuals are likely terrorists and that drug cartels and some members of the Mexican military are helping them get across the border.

What's even more disturbing is the fact that patches that appear to be military badges with Arabic lettering have been found. Do we have to be hit over the head to understand what all this means?

As avid readers of this blog know, I generally support the President, but his policies on immigration are incomprehensible to me. In most other aspects of the war on terror, I think he's done a fine job, but when it comes to something as simple and basic as border security, his viewpoint totally escapes me. I simply don't get it.

Where is the outcry from the mainstream media (MSM)? Where is the hard hitting news special? Where are all our concerned elected representatives? Are Rep. Tom Tancredo (R-Colo.) and J.D. Hayworth (R-Ariz.) the only ones who get it?

When are WE as Americans going to tell the Congress, the Senate and the President that "enough is enough"? Do something about border security........NOW!

With "Friends" like the French, Who Needs Enemies?

If it weren't so important and so dangerous, it would almost be laughable. I'm not sure that we silly Americans (at least those in the Bush State Department) will ever learn what is so blatantly obvious to those of us with a memory. The French simply cannot be trusted. The State Department should simply state publicly that the French are no longer considered as an "ally" and declare them as enemies of the United States government and it's people.

I mean really..........How many times do we have to be the objects of French duplicity before we finally get it through our heads that these guys are not only cowards, but liars as well? I for one have thought this for many years. The first time I realized that we could no longer depend on the French was in 1986 when President Reagan asked permission to use French airspace to attack Moammar Quadaffi in Lybia. I like many Americans who were paying attention at the time was infuriated that they would refuse such a request. We should have put a stop to their nonsense right then and there, but alas I wasn't consulted on the matter.

The latest example of French deception is their involvement and deception in bringing about UN Resolution 1701. Like all the other resolutions, going back 28 years, this one is a total farce, thanks in large part to the French. If anything, the hopes for a strong and stable Lebanon have evaporated. It's not as if the Lebanese government had much of a chance, with the current bunch of inept cowards who are currently in power, but thanks to the French, the legitimate government of Lebanon is doomed to fail and to be overrun by a bunch of Iranian backed thugs.

Remember how betrayed former Secretary of State Colin Powell felt after the French "snookered" him in the months preceding the Iraq War? Well now Secretary of State Condi Rice has joined the club of State Department personnel who trusted the French, only to find a knife in their back, after being kissed on both cheeks by our "friends" the French.

I for one am sick and tired of their games and if the Bush administration hasn't learned their lesson by now, perhaps they never will. The French are NOT our friends and they can't be trusted. Pure and simple. The sooner we get this through our heads, the better off America will be.

Larger Threat: The Puppet or the Puppet's Master?

Who's the larger threat? The Puppet or the Puppet's Master? I'm of course referring to "Dear Leader" Kim Jong Il (the Puppet) and the Chicoms (the Puppet Master).

The jury may still be out on that question, but there is no question that it's now time to deal with the people who are really pulling the strings of this crisis with much more seriousness.

Time magazine recently ran a cover story suggesting that the era of "Cowboy Diplomacy" is all but over. The fact is however, that NOW more than ever, we need to give the Chinese a good strong dose of "Cowboy Diplomacy" ala John Wayne. We can no longer afford to "pussy foot" around with the Chinese on this issue. They've been enjoying this little game that they've been playing long enough and the Bush Administration needs to hold their feet to the fire on North Korea and the little "nut job" at the other end of the strings.

We've got our own national interests in the area for sure, but so have several of our allies within the region. Even though the South Koreans may have some of their loyalties confused when it comes to how to deal with North Korea, our very good friends the Japanese do NOT.

It's been suggested that the Japanese are overreacting to the recent missile launches. I don't believe that they are. Although miserable failures, they DID land in the Sea of Japan for crying out loud. If Cuba test fired missiles and they landed off the Florida Keys, would be overreacting when we got our "shorts in a bunch"? I don't think so.

We need to tell the Chinese in no uncertain terms that now is the time for them to reign-in their little puppet and put a stop to this nonsense. We should make it clear to them that we know EXACTLY what they're up to and that perhaps it was "cute" for awhile, it's no longer cute and it will no longer be tolerated.

Some say that you can't talk to China like that as it will cause them to "lose face" and that they will not tolerate the insult. I don't believe that. They are in the middle of enormous economic growth, most of it because of the trading relationship that they have with the United States. We should use this fact to our advantage when negotiating with the Chinese.

Let's face it............we could cause them a lot of grief by simply turning off the relationship with ONE company........Walmart. The beauty of this is that it wouldn't require anything complicated. That should get their attention, if they need to have things put into focus for them.

If we REALLY want to make sure they understand the message, we should have President Bush deliver the message PERSONALLY. Not with some ambassador, not even via Condi Rice. We should give them a dose of "Cowboy Diplomacy" from THE Cowboy himself. That would emphasize the point, so that there was no mistake or misunderstandings.

This would of course have the leftists in this country "squealing like pigs", but that's just a bonus.

Oh, if only dreams really could come true.........

Most Harmful? The NY Times or al-Jezeera?

If you had asked me that a year ago, I'd have to give the nod to al-Jazeera, even though the New York Times would get a "dishonorable mention". Now, I'm not so sure.

I think it's truly sad that these guys are willing to sell out their country, simply to sell a few more newspapers and perhaps nabbed a Pulitzer Prize as an additional bonus. When you consider the depravity of it all, it's astounding really.

Can you imagine the NY Times behaving this way during WWII while either FDR or Truman were President? Somehow, I doubt it.

So the question becomes............do they really hate George W. Bush so much, that they're even willing to "aid and abet the enemy"? The answer is unquestionably, yes.

They can make all the "First Amendment" claims they want. I'm not buying it. I wouldn't have bought it during WWII and I sure as Hell am not buying it now. Talk to the hand!

All of us have known that since 9/11 that the U.S. Government has been making efforts to track the financial dealings of terrorists around the world and that they have no doubt been very successful. Many successes we'll never know about and that's fine by me. There are things that SHOULD be Top Secret.

The problem with what the New York Times, Los Angeles Times and Wall Street Journal for that matter is NOT that they reported that this was going on. Anyone who's read a newspaper or watched the evening news should know that. It's the amount of DETAILS that have been exposed in the guise of the public's right to know.

Well, let me tell you something. The public also had a right not to get blown all to Hell and slaughtered by the thousands, even tens of thousands because some ambitious reporter wants to make a name for themselves.

Sooooooo.......who's more harmful to the average U.S. citizen? Hands down, the title now belongs to the New York Times. Congratulations!

Fathers: An Endangered Species?

Father's Day is tomorrow and being a father of three daughters, I tend to get a bit reflective this time of year. All of my girls are pretty much "grown up" now. My youngest daughter is a freshman in college. My middle daughter is married and recently made me a grandfather. My oldest daughter graduated college several years ago and now teaches music in a suburb of Atlanta.

For good or bad the bare necessities of my "job" as Dad is over. This is the time where we don't see each other as often as we used to for a variety of reasons. Each of us can take credit for that. The girls for being too busy to spend a lot of time with the "old man". Myself for not wanting to "intrude" too much into their lives and give them the freedom and independence that they want and they deserve.

Hopefully, they know that I'm here if they need me. I try to make sure of that, but I always wonder if I'm doing enough. I suppose that's healthy and if I didn't question myself on the issue, that would say more about me as a Father than I'd care to admit.

When I look at American society today and the various social problems that exist, many of them can be tied to the near "extinction" of father's and their perceived importance in American culture. If you listen to liberal feminists like Gloria Steinem, Maureen Dowd and the like, you'd be convinced that men as a whole are of little use.

Sadly, even the Federal Government, because of the policies of Lyndon Johnson and his "Great Society" have encouraged the demise of fathers in our culture. For it's the Federal Government itself that has become "father" to many children as more and more women opt not to marry the father of their children. Unwed births are at an all-time high. What was once seen as a embarrassment, even a disgrace is now perfectly acceptable in today's world and that's truly sad.

It's sad for a number of reasons. It's a statistical fact that the majority of teenage runaways, suicides, violent criminal offenders, etc. are all from families without fathers. Whether the feminists like it or not, fathers ARE important and the mere presence of a father in the home brings more than a paycheck to the family unit. It brings love, compassion, discipline and the feeling of safety into the home.

We could solve or at least improve a whole host of social ills by doing simply one thing. Somehow making certain that more fathers are in the home. As a father of divorce myself, I realize that had my first wife and I been able to work things out, it would have been much better for my daughters. They've turned out fine I suppose, but I often wonder at what price? I missed out on a lot with my girls and they with me. For me to think otherwise would be foolish and I guess I'll always regret the time lost to all of us.

So, on this Father's Day my wish is a simple one. A simple wish, that unfortunately isn't easily granted. I wish simply that Father's be removed from the endangered species list and that their numbers would increase ten fold over the next few years. If that could happen, there would be a rebirth of family in this country that is sorely needed. The times we live in are difficult and ever changing. It would be nice to have "Dad" around more to help all of us through them.

Courageous or Cowardly?

U.S. Army 1st Lt. Ehren Watada is already being hailed by the liberals in this country as "courageous" for his refusal to ship out to Iraq later this month. I don't think he's courageous at all. In fact, I can say without reservation that he's a coward, pure and simple.

Not only is Lt. Watada risking court-martial and years of prison time, he could be getting himself into a lot more trouble than he thinks.

According to Steven Burt 1st Lt., FA, USAR (ret), if it can be proven that he is doing this to encourage other soldiers to join him, he would be guilty of fermenting a mutiny, which is a capital offense.

This is Article 94 of the Uniform Code of Military Justice:

ART. 94. MUTINY OR SEDITION(a) Any person subject to this chapter who--

(1) with intent to usurp or override lawful military authority, refuses, in concert with any other person, to obey orders or otherwise do his duty or creates any violence or disturbance is guilty of mutiny;

(2) with intent to cause the overthrow or destruction of lawful civil authority, creates, in concert with any other person, revolt, violence, or disturbance against that authority is guilty of sedition;
(3) fails to do his utmost to prevent and suppress a mutiny or sedition being committed in his presence, or fails to take all reasonable means to inform his superior commissioned officer or commanding officer of a mutiny or sedition which he knows or has reason to believe is taking place, is guilty of a failure to suppress or report a mutiny or sedition.

(b) A person who is found guilty of attempted mutiny, mutiny, sedition, or failure to suppress or report a mutiny or sedition shall be punished by death or such other punishment as a court- martial may direct.

When you take into account that Lt. Watada's website was registered by Jeff Paterson of "Not In Our Name", a case can be made that he's in "cahoots" with the anti-war crowd. Either this young man IS "in bed" with this bunch of fruitcakes, or he's very naive and doesn't realize that he's being used by the leftists in this country to score political points at HIS expense.

For his sake........I hope he wakes up soon, before he ruins not only his military career, but his life.
